Don’t let anyone make you feel responsible for their choices. That’s too much responsibility for any individual to bear, even God won’t take it. He gave humans a free will, which they are accountable for. People may struggle with decisions at times, but ultimately they do what they want.
Individuals are free agents, that is why each person will be accountable for his actions or decisions even in difficult situations. You are never responsible for anyone’s choice, neither is anyone responsible for yours. People evaluate what is most costly or beneficial to them and follow suit.
Most people easily blame themselves for the poor choices of others. Gaslighting is another dimension of this blame game. There’s nothing wrong with you. If you don’t like what someone else is doing, you have the right to vary. And while you may work at improving relationships, know that ultimately people will choose what they want.
