When someone fails to be responsible, stop putting your life on hold or under pressure because of that. Stop expecting from one who is not dependable. Confidence in an unfaithful person is like having a toothache. You will be in pain regardless of your intentions, so avoid it.
Having done your best, see the defaulting party as needing help, rather than refusing to give help because anyone who knows to do right and still doesn’t do it, needs some form of intervention. See them as deficient rather than difficult otherwise you’d make yourself a victim. You are better off taking your expectations off them than looking down at yourself.
