Meekness is a virtue God extols over and over. We may think meekness means weakness or being subdued by others. On the contrary, it is having our own strength under control. Blessed are the meek, they will inherit the earth. The weak doesn’t get to be in charge but the meek gets to because he has full control of his powers. He responds to situations and not reacts to them. His decisions are not determined by external circumstances but internal control.
The fact that you keep a distance from conflict doesn’t mean you are cowardly. You don’t have to show your strength by misrepresenting yourself because of another’s brawl. Meekness means applying your strength with meaningfulness and discretion.
So, remember when you exercise self control in the face of aggravation and you are tempted to feel weak or taken advantage of, remember that you posture is that of meekness and you are really the one in charge because you make decisions based on your own choices and not what others want you to do. That’s power right there!
